It's about that time again! Every year for Jake's birthday since 2006 we have a tradition called War Games. As most of you know Jake has a twin brother named Eric. So for there birthday one year their sister Karla and I decided to put on this event and we have continued it ever since. It started out with blue vs. red because their Mom used to dress them in red and blue. So we kept it with Red team for Eric and blue team for Jake. In the beginning all Eric's friends were singles and all of Jake's were married. So for a while it became a contest between marrieds and singles. But as times have changed and many of Eric's friends are now married its just red vs. blue. So to make things even more interesting we decided to bring in a trophy last year. Whoever wins gets the trophy and bragging rights for the next year. Every year we add a new plate on the trophy stating who won. As you can see below we have so much fun and it's really just a good excuse to get everyone out for a day of fun competition! These pictures are from last year's competition.

So we decided to go bowling! This was so fun and we should do it more often. The girls had their lane and the guys had theirs. I would say we have lots of great bowlers!

Jake & I recently went to a Mavs game! It was so fun! We both enjoy the Dallas Mavericks!

We are so thankful for our Lord Jesus! I think about all that God has given us and its overwhelming! I believe each year I am more thankful for the birth of Jesus!

I love the different seasons, the beauty in nature and all the many different feelings you feel as each season comes and goes. However Christmas time is my favorite. There is nothing like it when you stand in a crowd singing "O Come let us Adore Him" or "Joy to the World" adoration to the King! The lights that aray each house, street, or car. lol! Its all so fun. I think the reason I really enjoy Christmas the most is because people seem more content and happy this time of year. If only the revelation of that lasting all year long through Jesus would be unveiled to all!

Peace on Earth and Goodwill towards men!

- Glory is God's!
- A state of peace now exists between God and man!
- God's good will now shines upon all mankind!

No wonder all creation rejoiced at the birth of Jesus Christ. No greater news has ever been announced. Amen!

1st Christmas 2004

Christmas time! Some would say not yet! I would say ABSOLUTELY! Every year Jake & I put up our decorations a week before Thanksgiving. This started because we would go out of town for Thanksgiving and not come home until Sunday night. At that point we would have helped both of our parents decorate and my sister decorate their homes. So we decided to do ours before we leave. I love this approach because it means Christmas goes up earlier! So very soon you might see some pictures of Christmas fun from the Curtis household!!! But here are a few pics from the past!!!

Today I'm reminded of the importance to remain encouraged in the Lord. What I mean is that we have an opportunity everyday to make a difference in our spirit with what we do. I can choose to watch or listen to something that really encourages me or I can listen to, watch or engage in something that brings nothing or yet more damages my emotional and spiritual state of mind. I find that every time I listen to a sermon -podcast on line or read a book that God brings a person across my path that needs to hear what I just listened to or just read. How many people get affected by my state of mind. Either good or bad. I need to be on guard above reproach and in all days ready and in season for the message that I need to speak for the sake of who? The many people affected by what I might encourage them with or that I might offend or discourage them with. Words such an important part of our eternal destiny!

My sister has been going through lots of old photos from my grandma and all my aunts and uncles. I love this picture! My Mom is the first one on the left. Next is her sister Shirley, then my grandma(her mom), her sister melanie and then her sister in law Mary. I love this picture because they all look so happy and well put together. There outfits are so stylish. I think that is one thing our generation has lost. Sadly we don't dress like they use to. Our generation really doesnt have that specific fashion look about us.

I know its been a while since I have posted. Life has been a little crazy. My last post I talked about the movie Fireproof. Jake & I got to go see this movie recently and it was great! You have got to go see it. I wish we had much more movies out there that would inspire you and are enjoyable to watch. I've asked about when it will come out for purchase and they said probably not until Jan. or Feb. 2009. I was hoping by Christmas. :(

Volleyball- my favorite sport to play!

This is my team from my first volleyball league at L.A. Fitness. Im in my third league now. The three in the middle of this pic. is Melissa, me, and Jeff (to my right) are still on the same team. The others have changed. This picture is from when we won the championship game first season. Second season we were undefeated until the playoffs and for some strange reason we decided to lose that night. Anyways I love playing vball and for now its a good way to get some exercise and do something that is super fun to me!

Issac & Megan's Wedding

Recently some of our friends got married at the Dallas Arboretum. It was a beautiful wedding and so fun to celebrate friends. I did the hair for this wedding so I got to spend lots of time with the family the day of. It was so fun and an honor to help with the wedding! Here are some pictures from that night!

Here is our little Senior Citizen! Her name is Shelby and she is 12 years old! I have had her since she was 6 weeks old. She is our little angel. She keeps us laughing and is such a joy to have. We love her. As you can see in her spare time she like checking her email.

This picture was taken in Mexico. Jake and I were on vacation in Playa Del Carmen staying at a resort called The Royal. This had to be our best vacation so far. The water was beautiful -three shades of blue! We had so much fun relaxing on our canopy bed on the beach. This was an all inclusive package which means be prepared to gain some weight. We booked this vacation for June in January. By the way this is how you can save hundreds of dollars on your vacations.

I decided to start blogging to see if I would enjoy it and of corse if others would too! I think its a great idea to keep in touch and share thoughts, memories and pictures.

Today I was thinking about trying to figure things out. The constant battle of let go and let God! I think we as people feel the need to be doing something to feel proactive and feel as though we are making progress. I realized once again that trusting and not doing is in fact doing alot. This obviously only makes since to those of us who have walked in this arena before!
